Championing the Countryside
We are thrilled to share with you the exciting news about the launch of our 'Championing the Countryside Campaign.' This campaign, spearheaded by Gina Miller, aims to make food security, sustainability, and support for the UK's Farming and Food sector top national priorities. We invite you to be an integral part of this crucial initiative.
Campaign in a Nutshell:
The True & Fair Party are calling on all political parties to place food security, support for our farming and food sector, and the protection of our countryside at the forefront of their agendas. This significant launch took place at the Marlborough Townhall alongside our local True & Fair Parliamentary candidate for East Wiltshire, Pete Force-Jones.
Why Your Support Matters:
Our beautiful British countryside lies at the heart of our nation's health, happiness, and sustainability. It is essential that we rally behind our farmers, enhance biosecurity, ensure food sustainability, and safeguard our environment, all of which require clear and responsible plans from our politicians. Unfortunately, these plans have been conspicuously absent.
Trade deals signed by the government have placed UK farmers and food producers at a disadvantage. Promised post-Brexit funding has yet to materialize, and the burden of border checks is taking a toll on businesses. The repeated delays in vital border checks for EU food imports pose a serious threat to the UK's biosecurity.
There is an urgent need for the UK to establish a Veterinary Agreement with the EU, streamlining processes and resolving restrictions on exports to the EU, our largest trading partner. The silence from the government on this issue is deeply concerning.
A Message from Gina Miller:
Speaking about the campaign, Gina Miller expressed her concern: "In speaking with farming and environmental protection stakeholders in the constituencies where True & Fair candidates are running, we've discovered an overwhelming distrust of mainstream politicians. The sector faces systemic challenges that demand immediate solutions, but each announcement, such as the fifth delay in checking food imported from the EU, only worsens the predicament of our farming and food sector."
Your Voice Counts:
At the True & Fair Party, we value input from all stakeholders, not just those with the loudest voices or the deepest pockets. That's why we are launching this six-week consultation process. Our goal is to propose practical, data-driven, and sensible policies that secure food and water supplies, support our farmers, protect our countryside, and preserve our environment.
Get Involved:
We invite you to actively participate and share this with any countryside stakeholders you are connected with. If you live or work in the countryside, please take a moment to share your thoughts and ideas through our consultation link below:
